INTERNMENT (Currently in Development)

Before discovering a manuscript 25 years after her grandfather’s death, writer Glynis Ratcliffe had never heard of a Canadian Jewish Internment camp. In the half written manuscript penned by her grandfather, Glynis learns not only of the refugees that were held in these camps for the duration of WWII. She also learns her grandfather was one of them.

Internment is a feature-length documentary chronicling Glynis’ quest to learn the truth of this dark period of Canadian history. As she digs through the manuscript, Glynis tracks down the last few living internees to uncover their stories, visits the camps in New Brunswick & Quebec, and tries to make sense of this history with family members. With important pieces hidden both by “public” records and survivors who have since passed, Glynis is determined to unearth the remaining stories before it is too late - and is compelled to find a way to share them through her own writing.
